Goverment steps up for improving food traceability

Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan will step up to improve food traceability systems.

Companies are already piloting food traceability systems so that consumer can, for example, easily obtain origins of beef and its processing dates. However, it is a challenge for companies to improve the accuracy of information without investing a lot of money.

The ministry intend to expand traceability systems to major facilities in the nation during the next 3 years.
