An Electronic Tag for Your Remote

I visited Osamanoidea shop in Shinjuku, Tokyo the other day. Their sales items are wonderful collection of gizmos that are slightly more eccentric than the stuff you may find in a SkyMall catalog.

I could talk about all different kinds of stuff they sell. But, let me talk about an electronic tag product today. (Yes, I just wanted to show off the one I got.)

This tag (the yellow piece) can be attached to, for example, your tv remote. The black piece is a whistle. Make some sound with the whistle (or you can just whistle with your lips), then the tag listens to the sound and responds to it by making a different sound and also by lighting an LED.

This system may be good for some purposes -- before RFID-based solutions may come along in the future.
