U-Wall-Sockets

An intelligent wall sockets called u-wall-sockets were developed by NTT Neo Mate, Tokyo University of Technology, V-cube Broad Communication, and Fuji Seimitsu.

U-wall-sockets make it possible for people to control any home appliances (with or without internet connectivity) over the internet. Using the u-wall-sockets, it is possible to check , over the internet , if a home appliance is on or off (at least). u-wall-sockets have a infrared transmitter for controlling some home appliances over the internet as well (like, for turning devices on an off).

This system will be tested later this year (October through December). It will likely be commercialized around March 2006.
