Wallet Phones - One Million Edy Users

BitWallet announced that the number of Edy users on NTT DoCoMo's wallet phone platform exceeded one million by the end of this July.

Wallet phones were introduced about a year ago. Now, all DoCoMo handsets are actually wallet phones with embedded RFID tags. But some people who own wallet phones may not be actually using them as wallet phones. Edy users mean people who subscribed to the Edy service (the key service for those who want to actually use wallet phones as wallet phones), so at least one million people know that their phones are wallet phones.

Vodafone and KDDI plan to introduce similar "wallet phones" soon - so there's a large potential for the number to increase (unless many people decide to use the competitor's mobile suica service)
